The British Council and the University of Yarmouk signed on 7 September 2014 a memorandum of understanding, under which the world leading International English Language Test (IETLS); managed by British Council; will be conducted inside the university campus. The signing of the agreement comes in light of the increasing number of applicants for the exam from all areas in the north of Kingdom of Jordan. This agreement is projected to achieve positive impact in terms of facilitating the exam mechanism, in addition to providing flexible and easy logistical arrangements for residents in all areas in the north. By this agreement, (IELTS) related exam services will be provided by the British Council
On his part, the Director of the British Council, Mr. Robin Rickard commented, "This agreement represents the continuing commitment of the British Council to the education and employment in Jordan. At Yarmouk University and across the Kingdom our aim is to provide maximum support in preparation for the IELTS exam and to make young Jordanians aware of the options available to them on thief future careers and studies by securing a good IELTS score. Yarmouk University is one of Jordan's leading centres of educational excellence and we are delighted to continue our long-term fruitful partnership with them through an IELTS collaboration.”
President of Yarmouk University commented, "Based on the longstanding relationship between Yarmouk University and the British Council in educational and cultural fields, Yarmouk University is looking forward to signing an agreement with the BC to provide the products and services related to the IELTS test on campus. The goal is to help graduate students in the north region of the country meet their needs with respect to this test, which serves them within the country, in addition to the importance of the test as a requirement for study abroad"
The signing ceremony was attended by British Council Jordan’s General Manager Mr. Robin Rickard, Country Exams Manager Mrs. Ameera Manna, and Exams Business development Manager Mrs. Asma Tarawneh. The ceremony was also attended by President of Yarmouk University Prof Dr. Abdulla Mousa and Vice President Prof. Dr. Ahmad Ajlouni and Assistant Chief of the Language Center, Dr. Ahmed Abu Dalou.
